The uniforms of the Guinea Maritime and Colonial Guard (1908-1968)

Abstract
The Colonial Guard created by the budget law of 1908, replaced the marine forces that since 1870 provided a garrison service in the Spanish islands of the gulf of Guinea. Organized initially with officers and classes of the Civil Guard and native troops, it was, practically, until 1968, the only military force that maintained public order and the security and surveillance of the territory. In this work the evolution of their uniforms is studied, from its creation to the year of the independence of Equatorial Guinea, including the uniforms of the Maritime Guard, organized in 1951, with functions of naval police and surveillance of coasts and boats.
